Finally, we can offer ice skating on the frozen pond at Gaustablikk. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, we premiere the new ice skating rink. But why wait, you are welcome to try a piruette today.
At the end of January 2020 the ice skating rink at Gaustablikk was completed. It is hosted on the frozen pond between the hotel and Gausta Showroom, and a centre spot for the arcitechts vision of Gaustablikk Plaza on display in the showroom.
Gaustablikk Plaza visualized in October 2018. The vision: to create a living village square with an atmosphere reminding you of Austrian alp villages.
The initial plan was to offer ice skating already last year. Yet, when preparing the pond during autumn 2018 it became clear that it was more complicated than we had expected. Since the pond has a considerable in-flow and out-flow of water, ground construction work was necessary. This caused a delay, and the premiere was postponed for a year.
On Februrary 14, 2020 it’s finally time for the grand opening. The date is well chosen, because what can be more romantic than skating with your Valentine, just like those romantic movies showing the rinks of Rockefeller Plaza or Central Park in New York. Yet, of course the rink is open for more than romantic couples! In fact, we expect families and children to be the main skaters. A great way to experience other winter sports if you want variety from the slopes and trails.
Skating equipment – skates, helmet, club and ball, can be rented at the Gausta ski rental opposite the hotel. If you’re already equipped – just get on the ice!
