There are several places to park if you want to go to Gaustatoppen and Gausta Skisenter. Make sure that you choose a car park that you are allowed to use, otherwise you risk a fine or your vehicle being towed away.
At Stavsro there is a pay car park with a limited number of spaces. Parking costs NOK 150 per car per day. Payment is via Vipps to no. 110898, by card using the ticket machine or to the parking attendant. In the summer there is a parking attendant on site 8 am – 3.30 pm.
To get here from Rjukan, take the road up towards Gausta. Instead of turning left towards Gaustablikk, continue straight ahead and follow the Fv651 and the signs for Gaustatoppen.
There’s plenty of parking right next to Gausta Food Court at Gausta Skisenter. Parking here is free of charge, with a few exceptions. During peak periods, such as the Christmas and Easter holidays, Rjukan handball club usually helps out with the logistics of parking at Gausta Skisenter. They charge NOK 50 per car, which goes straight to the sports club.
You can also park in Rjukan. However, the number of parking spaces is limited and the fees vary. The mountain bus to Gaustatoppen starts at the bus station.
There is a large car park at Gaustabanen’s lower station. It’s exclusively for people using Gaustabanen railway.
Most accommodation options include parking. Refer to your accommodation information for more details.
