In the event of an accident or medical emergency, there are different ways to get help in Gausta. Always call SOS 113 for serious accidents and emergencies.
If anything should happen on the slopes or in the cross-country trails and someone needs healthcare, you can contact the ski patrol. They are stationed in two places: at Kongeriket play area and the bottom of Parkheisen lift. The ski patrol’s alarm service is only for accidents in piste areas during the ski system’s opening hours. Always phone SOS for serious accidents and emergencies. If you don’t have a telephone, you can contact the nearest lift staff.
If you fall ill and need medical care, you can go to Rjukan Legesenter (health centre) in the city centre of Rjukan.
Rjukan has an A&E clinic to provide immediate help when Rjukan Legesenter is closed.
There are defibrillators at Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell and Gaustatoppen/Gaustabanen.
The Gausta app boasts GPS tracking and SOS functionality – a good complement to a map, compass and other safety equipment. Turn on GPS and location services in your phone to use the tracking feature.
