A place to chill and hang out, where the adventures of the day can be relived in a friendly atmosphere. The new Sportell at Gausta aims to be both a campfire and modest hotel for every powder hunter or ice climber stopping by Gausta.
The Sportell is a joint venture between Gaustatoppen Invest AS och Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell AS. The plans started in 2015 and hopefully construction work will begin in August 2019. Located opposite Bygget in Hovdestaul the new Sportell will offer 18 apartments and 15 hotel rooms, in total 138 beds.
– We want to create an place where the activities are in focus, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere where every guest can share the passion for the mountain, says Henrik Grimstad Ones.
Henrik Grimstad Ones and Fabian Landström
Together with Fabian Landström he is responsible for developing the Sportell offer. The Sportell will host a restaurant and bar where anyone is welcome to sneak in. A place for the times, with well-cooked meals, craft beers and cocktails – where you also can experience an intimate music gig, or take part in a workshop or lecture.
– We hope the locals at Gausta and Rjukan will make it their spot too. A place where mountain guides can meet their groups. Where skiers, bikers and climbers can be among friends, sharing experiences and tips, says Henrik Grimstad Ones.
Apart from lodging the Sportel will also house shops and equipment rental for skis and bikes.
– We want to keep the threshold low so that everybody can join the passion, no matter their skill, says Henrik Grimstad Ones.
