Important information from Gaustablikk Fjellresort, Gausta Ski Rental and Gausta Ski- and Snowboard School

Gaustablikk Fjellresort and  Gausta Food Court is opening on Monday 27th  December

We are pleased to announce that the Municipal Chief of Tinn Municipality has given the go- ahead for Gaustablikk Fjellresort (hotel rooms, Restaurant Bjørk, the bars and the lobby) and Gausta Food Court can open from tomorrow Monday 27th December. Restaurant Blikk and the Bakery will open Tuesday 28th December. Due to the spread of Covid-19 amongst the staff, these business areas at Gausta have been closed since 19th December.


Restaurant Bjørk

Delicious 3 course meals are served at the Restaurant Bjørk every evening, where you can choose between a meat or vegetarian entree. We are still not able to serve alcohol due to the national restrictions and so our restaurants and bars will only serve non- alcoholic drinks. We have an exciting non alcoholic drinks menu in both the bar and our restaurants as well as non alcoholic wine packages that perfectly complement our menu

Gausta Food Court

Gausta Food Court, which is the natural meeting place for lunch and a break from the slopes, is open everyday 11.30 – 17.00.  You order your food and drink via the Gausta app at your assigned table and your order will be served to your table. We ask you not to walk around the area and that you wear a face mask until you are sitting and eating/ drinking.


Restaurant Blikk

Restaurant Blikk opens on Tuesday at 17.00 and is the new á la carte restaurant at  Gaustablikk Fjellresort. Here you can try the most delicious dishes made from the freshest  first class ingredients, either grilled or with the least possible preparation. You can book your table in advance online. There is limited capacity in the restaurants, so book early.


The Bakery

The new Bakeriet (which is adjacent to the Gausta Food Court, at the bottom of Hotellbakken and next to the Children’s Area at Gausta Skisenter) also opens on Tuesday from 08.00.  Here you can get your home-baked buns, breads and cakes as well as freshly ground coffee.



The floating saunas and pool area will remain closed at Gaustablikk Fjellresort until further notice.  If you have already booked a floating sauna online you will receive a full refund.  Please contact the reception at Gaustablikk Fjellresort.  


Gausta Skisenter, rental and ski and snowboard school 

Gausta Skisenter is open as usual.  Please see the daily report and opening times on the Gausta app. Gausta Ski Rental and Gausta Ski and Snowboard School are open. We recommend that you buy your lift pass and book your equipment and lessons online.  You can easily pick up your lift pass at one of the lift pass machines outside of the ski rental or if you have loaded your keycard you can go directly to lift.


General Corona information

Gaustablikk and it’s associated businesses have carefully gone through all of the routines and are well prepared to receive guests on Monday and Tuesday.  Our most important task is to ensure the safety of our guests when you visit us . In order for us all to stay healthy, we encourage all of our visitors  to remember the national covid restrictions and measures and to follow the signage and our staff.


Please remember: 

  • Maintain a minimum or a pole length distance from others who are not a part of your family or cohort.
  • Use a face mask if you can’t maintain a distance of 1m
  • Use the hand sanitiser that is located in all entrances  and around the public areas.
  • When you enter any of our premises you will be asked to write your name on a register or register via a QR code for infection tracing.  You will register in the reception, lobby, common areas, the restaurants and bars at Gaustablikk Fjellresort. At Gausta Food Court  you will be registered when you place your order for food or drink.  If you are using the packed lunch areas ( just outside of the toilets) there is a place to register.
    You do not have to write your name on the list but are strongly recommended to do so to facilitate the work of the Infection Tracing Team in the municipality. The registers will be properly filed and will be destroyed after 10 days.  Your contact information will not be used for any further purpose.
  • Please stay at home if you feel unwell or are in quarantine.  You are not welcome to our businesses.

Gaustablikk Fjellresort closes until 23 December. (Gausta Skisenter is open.)

Gaustablikk Fjellresort is closed  – we hope to re-open again on Thursday 23rd December.

On Saturday evening the decision was made at Gaustablikk Fjellresort to close the newly opened restaurants and bar from 19th December due to Corona infection amongst the staff. We have immediately implemented the extended action plan, and in consultation with the Municipal Chief of Tinn Kommune, all staff that were considered close contacts to those that have tested positive, have been quarantined.

Following further discussions with the local authorities, in consultation with the Chief Physician of Tinn Kommune, we have decided to completely close the hotel until 23rd December. All affected guests will be contacted by telephone by Monday 20th December at the latest.

All other guests who are affected, with arrival dates on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd December will be contacted by telephone by Monday 20th December at the latest. If you are due to arrive on 23rd December we will contact you as soon as we have further information.

All staff in the relevant departments will be tested during the week. We hope to get the go -ahead to reopen our restaurants and bars again on 23rd December, so that our guests can celebrate Christmas and New Year at the mountain as planned. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

The closure applies to:

  • Gaustablikk Fjellresort and all of its facilities incl. hotel rooms, common areas, restaurants, bars and floating saunas.
  • Gausta Food Court
  • The bakery.

What is open:

  • Cabins and apartments (and key pick-up) are open.
  • Gausta Skisenter is open.
  • Gausta Ski Rental og Gausta Ski-& Snowboard School is open with limited staffing. We recommend that you pre book your equipment and lessons online. You can also buy your lift pass online or at the ticket machines outside the rental shop.
  • Pose & Sekk Dagligvare and Sport 1 Gaustablikk are open.

We are limiting the number of people allowed into our premises at one time and face masks must be worn. We encourage you to keep a distance of 1 meter and show consideration for others.

UPDATE 19 December at 00:50

Today, Saturday 18th December at 22.00, we at Gausta received confirmation that employees working in the restaurant and bar at Gaustablikk Fjellresort, as well as staff in Gausta Ski Rental and Gausta Ski and Snowboard School had tested positive for Covid -19. We have immediately implemented our management plan and, in consultation with the municipal chief in Tinn Municipality, have quarantined all employees from the current and affected departments and close contacts of the infected employees.

This applies now:

Gaustablikk Fjellresort’s new bars and restaurants are closed until further notice. All guests who have already booked a stay or dinner with us in the coming days, will receive information about the situation and the opportunity to move their visit to another date. The extended cancellation policy applies. This also applies to bookings of the floating sauna and other activities located at or adjacent to the hotel.

Gausta Skiutleie is open, but has limited staff as part of the staff is in quarantine. If you have pre-booked ski equipment by 19 December, you are welcome to pick up and return your equipment to the ski rental. We strongly encourage you to book online or on the ticket machines outside. Gausta Ski and Snowboard School is still open for online bookings.

We at Gausta take the situation very seriously, and follow all guidelines from the municipal chief and our extended management plan to limit and stop the infection at an early stage.
