Gausta Skisenter comprises 13 lifts och 35 slopes in various lengths and levels of difficulty. It also includes two children areas, two snow parks and the opportunity for evening skiing.
The lifts of Gausta Skisenter stretches from Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell in the east to the cozy cabin areas of Hovdestaul at the foot of Gaustatoppen. The ski system is known for its long, well prepared slopes. Most of them with an astonishing view of Gaustatoppen.
The 13 lifts and 35 slopes offer a variety of challenges for skiers at all levels. Four slopes are lit up in the evening and available for evening skiing.
The biggest vertical drop is 550 meter and the longest possible single run measures 3800 meters. The ski center also includes two children areas and two snow parks.
The different parts of the Gausta Skisenter varies in steepness, offering varying character and level of difficulty.
The slopes from the Skipsjell peak by Gausta centre are steeper and more challenging with black and red slopes, as well as green – to fit the whole family. The Gausta centre area also includes a popular children area, a well-stocked ski-rental, a grocery store and several restaurants.
The slopes in the Hovdestaul area offer beginner-friendly skiing with many blue and green slopes. In addition this you find a gentle children area and an exciting snow park for the adventurous. Not forgetting the restaurant Bygget.
The further west in the ski system you ride, the higher and flatter it becomes. Here the windswept bare mountain offer wide open scenery and a spectacular view of Gaustatoppen.
If you want to ski off-piste from Gaustatoppen and don’t feel like climbing on skins, you can buy tickets to ride up with Gaustabanen, an underground train inside the mountain that takes you all the way to the top.
Tickets are not included in the Gausta lift pass, but need to be bought separately. To the Gaustabanen valley station at 1151 m altitude you can take a shuttle bus from the lifts, or walk a few hundred meters if you don’t mind carrying your skis. After your ride from the top you can easily ski back into the pistes again. New lifts to further connect Gausta Skisenter with Gaustabanen are coming in the future.
