Snow-Sure Ski Resort

An Investment in World-Class Experiences

Over the past three years, Gausta Ski Resort has invested more than 100 million NOK in a state-of-the-art snowmaking system. This commitment guarantees high-quality skiing conditions from the start to the end of the season, regardless of how the winter unfolds. Of our 37 slopes, 19 are equipped with snowmaking capabilities, ensuring optimal conditions for both pistes and lifts, even during mild weather periods.

As winters grow warmer, snow production has become a cornerstone for most ski resorts. At Gausta, it's not just about technology—it’s about expertise and experience. With 250 fully automated snow cannons and 8 powerful pumps, our snowmaking process relies on meticulous monitoring of weather conditions like temperature, humidity, and wind to ensure the best snow quality and placement. Snowmaking is truly a craft, and our dedicated team ensures that you can enjoy perfect conditions throughout the season.

Sustainable and Innovative Snowmaking

At Gausta, sustainability and efficiency are top priorities. Our advanced snowmaking system is designed to use resources like electricity and water in a smart and responsible way. With real-time monitoring, we ensure the optimal snow depth on every slope, and the entire system can be managed from an iPad—a seamless blend of technology and precision that sets us apart in the industry.

Under ideal conditions, we can produce up to 45,000 cubic meters of snow. Additionally, we have recently installed a new compressor that harnesses mountain air to increase production capacity even further.

It’s no secret that snowmaking consumes a significant amount of energy. That’s why we devote extra effort to operating the system in a smart and sustainable manner, maximizing efficiency. Factors such as stable temperatures, humidity levels, wind conditions, and consistent water flow from our mountain reservoirs are all crucial to ensuring safe and efficient snow production.

Why Do People Say We Have "Perfect Snow"?

Our specially developed snow mix is designed to resist melting during mild weather and avoid icing up when temperatures drop. The quality of our snow is one of Gausta’s unique advantages, and the formula is, of course, top secret! This ensures optimal conditions for a long, snow-secure winter—something we and our guests can truly look forward to.
