Child-friendly mountain hike

Hike to Gaustatoppen from Stavsro

Begin your Gaustatoppen adventure from the Stavsro parking lot and follow the popular route along the southern side.

Hike to Gaustatoppen from Svineroi

Experience a fantastic summit hike from Svineroi to Gaustatoppen and be rewarded with a spectacular view from Norway's highest mountain.

Hike to Lille Gaustakne

On the mountain crest south of Gaustatoppen you’ll find Lille Gaustakne. The hike takes around 2 hours return, and from the summit at 1,442 metres you can enjoy magnificent views.  

 

Skipsfjell is the mountain located in the middle of Gausta and has one of the best viewpoints in the area.

Svartdalsløypa around Kvitåvatn

This family-friendly hike starts from Gaustablikk Fjellresort and continues around the beautiful Kvitåvatn.

Frequently asked questions

Up the stairs by the reception at the hotel, you'll find the library. A cozy room with a good atmosphere to play various board games or read a good book. There's also a TV in there.

In the mini shop in the lobby, you can buy travel-friendly games like dominoes, chess, backgammon, and a deck of cards.

You can borrow drawing materials from the reception.

There are no Playstation or other video games at the hotel.

Yes, if you have forgotten or need new children's clothing or equipment, you can visit Sport 1 Gaustablikk. The sports store is located right across the road from the hotel.

In the hotel restaurant Blikk Fjellbrasserie, you can order a separate children's menu or children's buffet (depending on the number of children staying at the hotel).

During high season, there are several meal options at Gausta with service at Stova, located across from the hotel. Here you can get pizza, hamburger, pasta, and salads.

Bakeriet på Gausta is a must-visit for all families visiting the area. Here you can enjoy fresh bread and pastries and take a break. The bakery has a wide selection of cakes and sweets, as well as delicious sandwiches and baguettes.

There is a small selection of candy available at the concierge desk (next to the reception).

Ice cream and other candy can be purchased at Pose & Sekk Dagligvare (grocery store), located just across the road from the hotel.

Yes, the hotel has both a playroom, as well as several other child-friendly activities.

Playroom: Adjacent to the hotel lobby, there is a cozy playroom for the youngest children with toys, teddy bears, and books.

 

Yes, there are several types of family rooms available for those traveling with children. Choose between family rooms (3 adults + 2 children), superior double rooms (2 adults + 1 child), suites (2 adults + 2 children), or junior suites (2 adults + 2 children). There are also connecting rooms (rooms with a door between them) in different double room categories. You can also choose to book some of our cabins or apartments.

You can add a baby cot and high chair, as an extra, when booking online for an additional charge. Children's duvet and pillow with bed linen are included.

You will see the accommodation price for children when you make your booking online. This varies depending on the season.

There is no babysitting service at the hotel. If you want 2 hours of child-free time, you can book Kids Mountain Club (6-9 years) or Kids Cycling Adventure (8-12 years)(summer)  with an activity leader at Gausta Activity Center. The price is NOK 150 per child. 

There is a designated area of the pool in the wellness department with extra shallow water depth reserved for children. The wellness department is open to children until 5 pm under adult supervision (applies to children under 15 years). Swimming is at your own risk.

To access the wellness department, you need to book a time at the reception (1 hour) and receive your own key card. For longer stays in the wellness department, please inquire.
